Sigma story [1]: Preface

Six Sigma is upon us, no turning back. Six Sigma: teams, yellow belts, green belts, black belts, master black belts, experts, champions and sponsors; all busy developing communication plans, charters, storyboards, activity network diagrams, affinity diagrams, problem statements, interrelationship digraphs, involvement matrices and many other improvement tools. So busy that we may actually forget about that one, small and quite interesting sigma, which started all of this. The sigma that has nothing to do with customer requirements, specifications, defects, nor errors – the one that simply is.
