A Year in CEP
Ok, it has been a year now that I have been digging through various CEP solutions trying to make sense out of it.
According to the event processing glossary: “Complex Event Processing is computing that performs operations on complex events, including reading, creating, transforming, or abstracting them”.
In a more simplified view, it represents off-the-shelf software that allows aggregation of events from multiple sources, detection of relations and patterns among them, as well as reaction to the events. In many cases, events are taken from message busses and processing time is measured in milliseconds. This way you can react to “something-happened” as it happens—as opposed to waiting for an analyst to sift through process data.
So, here are some resources and reading material for the holiday season; enjoy.
